Producer Description

The Chaiyaphum Wind Power Project provides the Evergreen Exchange with one (1) class of offset.

Offset Class 1: TcO2e reduced (Avoidance) derived from alternative power displacement.

This class of avoidance credit is quantified by the mass of Carbon Dioxide Equivalents (CO2e) that were not released into the atmosphere as a result of alternative power production. As our human population grows, more and more people require electricity in their everyday lives. There are a variety of ways to increase the electricity that needed to provide with energy. One option is to increase the size or number of fossil-fuel based powerplants. The most economic option, in most cases, is coal energy. However, the tradeoff is that coal and other fossil fuels release many harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. these chemicals are considered major contributors to a variety of life threatening respiratory and related illnesses. These chemicals also cause harm to other living beings, and affect larger earth system patterns such as the heating or cooling of the planet. In the long term, fossil fuels are a finite resource which will be depleted within a few generations and humanity ultimately needs to replace electric consumption using alternative methods if for no other reason than scarcity. .

Wind energy uses the kinetic force generated by convention (the heating and cooling of air.) Convection is a common feature of the environment and requires no input materials to produce force. Wind electric power generation emits no chemicals that alter the atmosphere and does not carry the risk of being depleted in the long term.

The offsets created from the Chaiyaphum Wind Power Project, and other similar wind farms, is calculated by comparing the mass of CO2e that would required to produce 1 Kilowatt hour of electricity using a coal fire power plant, compared to the mass of CO2e required to produce 1 Kilowatt hour of electricity using the wind.

As a result of this wind power project, more people have access to affordable energy, but little or no additional CO2e was created in providing that energy. environmental impact measured in mass of CO2e avoided  between these

The The Chaiyaphum Wind Power Project has advanced the following United Nations Sustainability Goals (U.N. SDG) through its operational outputs:

SDG 7. Affordable and Clean Energy:

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. The Chaiyaphum Wind Farm provides local citizens of Thailand with renewable/net zero electricity.

SDG 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth:

Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. The Chaiyaphum Wind Farm provides the local citizens of Thailand with inclusive job opportunities directly operating resilient/renewable energy infrastructure.

SDG 12. Responsible Consumption and Production:

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. The Chaiyaphum Wind Farm provides the local citizens of Thailand with a sustainable and long-term source of energy both for direct-to-consumer consumption as well as for commercial/production activities.

SDG 13. Climate Action:

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. The Chaiyaphum Wind Farm directly reduces harmful GHG emissions release from occurring by providing an electric generation source which eliminates the GHG emissions associated with combustion-based energy generation relative to an equivalent quantity of electric energy production.
